
Audiologist
Kelsey Dougherty Wolf, Au.D., is a licensed and ASHA-certified audiologist with extensive experience providing patient-centered care in private practice settings. She is skilled in hearing diagnostics, hearing aid fitting and troubleshooting, tinnitus management, interdisciplinary care, and clinic management, bringing a comprehensive and compassionate approach to every patient interaction.
Education & Training
Dr. Wolf earned two Bachelor’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University in May 2017, a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders & Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She went on to complete her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) at Purdue University in May 2021, where she also served as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Systems Neuroscience of Auditory Perception Lab under the direction of Dr. Hari Bharadwaj.
Clinical Experience
Dr. Wolf completed her Audiology Doctoral Externship at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she gained extensive experience performing comprehensive audiological evaluations in a fast-paced outpatient hospital setting, fitting and repairing hearing aids and bone-anchored devices, and assisting with video telehealth services. She also counseled patients on tinnitus coping strategies.
Following her externship, Dr. Wolf joined AudioNova in Elgin and Westmont, Illinois, where she performed comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, including air/bone conduction, speech audiometry, and tympanometry; fit and serviced hearing aids, including Bi-CROS systems; and managed insurance claims and clinic operations across multiple locations. She also collaborated closely with otolaryngologists and primary care physicians to develop integrated treatment plans and participated in community outreach and patient education initiatives.
Research & Publications
During her graduate training, Dr. Wolf investigated central gain changes and tinnitus effects on the cognitive system using clinical, behavioral, and laboratory measures. Her research contributed to a peer-reviewed publication in Communications Biology: Bharadwaj, H.M., Hustedt-Mai, A.R., Ginsberg, H.M., Dougherty, K.M., et al. “Cross-species experiments reveal widespread cochlear neural damage in normal hearing.” Commun Biol 5, 733 (2022).
Skills & Technical Proficiency
Dr. Wolf’s clinical skill set includes Real Ear Measurements (REM) and speech mapping for hearing aid verification, tinnitus assessment and management, and aural rehabilitation and counseling for adult and senior patients. She is proficient in programming and troubleshooting hearing aids from Phonak (Target), Signia (Connexx), and Oticon (Genie), and experienced with NOAH patient management software, remote microphone systems, and tele-audiology tools.
